Fortress of Solitude

My perfect makeshift computer desk is created by simply placing a 4-foot laminate shelf on the padded arms of my lounge chair. The height of the shelf easily frees my knees and legs. Literally next to my laptop is this beautiful lamp. Sitting in my armchair at 3am in the dark listening to i-Tunes radio through a good pair of stereo headphones, the lamp gives off a soft and comfortable light that calms me and enhances the memories evoked by the music. There's no whirring, power-hungry engine to distract from the mood, just softly glowing but bright colors from low-power red, green, and blue LEDs refracting through the clear plastic "ice" crystals that light the base of the fill small lamp. The crystals slowly change color and may resemble Superman's Fortress of Solitude. Maybe it will calm him and you until the crystals turn green. To me, the lamp also resembles an inverted ballerina. Her solid body radiates energy and narrows to a slender waist, while her splayed fiberglass bundle emits the shifting, pinpoint hues of the starry universe. You can gently blow on these stars and make them tremble. A sensitive person of any age will find quiet pleasure in a darkened room next to this lamp.
