Review on ๐Ÿถ Heavy Duty Nylon Martingale Dog Collar by Country Brook Petz by Patricia Jordan

Beautiful walking collar

I bought a 1" wide medium sized collar for my 65 lb dog (17" neck). This is a very strong collar! I buy Country Brook collar components to make fun Christmas collars for my puppies. But these are simple collars with buckles designed to hold identification tags. To protect my dog's life, I need a professionally made collar. I chose this one after reading many reviews about the collars not working. This one does the trick. I like that it's wide and doesn't choke my dog. Narrow-band martingales are more like choke chains. My dog has leash reactivity issues so I don't use choke chains on him (this can make things worse). I used Soft Leader on her but she hated it so much I gave up. Also, the dog will learn to pull with ANY type of collar. Martingale is good because it keeps the dog from slipping off the collar and doesn't put potentially dangerous pressure on the dog's throat. We work a lot with martingales, train the leash. My dog seems to be much more comfortable even though the training is slower than I would like! I just put it around her neck while she wears a regular choker. I would not leave this to an unsupervised dog for a variety of reasons. A dog can get caught on something (the neck!), a dog can get a foot on something while scratching, other dogs can get their jaws caught on it, etc. etc. etc. Seriously, use your imagination. Use a simple identification collar at home and wear a martingale when you go for a walk.
