Bulky and won't light up until the dimmer is halfway on

The good thing about this product is that it's bright, easy to assemble and like all gimbal lights, it's tiltable. However, if you are looking for an aesthetically pleasing product, look elsewhere. These lamps are chunky, sticking out of the ceiling quite a bit. We installed it in the bedroom. Something with a thinner rim would be better. Also, at lower dimmer settings, the light goes completely dim, requiring the dimmer to be turned on almost halfway in order to illuminate. If we had known the shortcomings beforehand, we would have chosen another provider.
