Try something different

The ethernet port sometimes goes down, maybe once a month or more. requires the device to be disconnected and reconnected. If you also have several USB devices connected, these will of course also be deactivated. HMDI caused OS to freeze intermittently - OS freezes for a few seconds and then works for a few seconds IF the HDMI monitor is off. Turn on the monitor, everything is back to normal. enet requires driver installation on 10.12+, overall it doesn't seem to be fully stable when used 24/7. Plugging and unplugging it every day will likely reset it, which should be reliable. If your laptop stays in place, this device will not make you happy
