Review on DuuToo Ultra-Luminous Silent Alternative by Keith Harris

Good heat treatment. But.

I bought this product for a small lighting project in my living room. I bought it to replace another product with the same brightness but with a flicker. When the package arrived I noticed that these bulbs are surprisingly small compared to those that need replacing. It's about the size of a Red Bull can, while the other, with less lumens, looks like a 2-liter coke bottle. The lamp LEDs are also not protected. However, the bulb has good aluminum construction. Finally, the board that holds the LED also has small holes to help evacuate the hot air. I would say that it has good build quality, but something is missing. I immediately had concerns, so I did some tests with this lamp. I placed a lightbulb vertically on top of a light fixture along with other "regular" LED lightbulbs and left it on for a few hours. Then I checked the temperature with an IR gun. This lamp is 185F while my other lamps are around 270F. So the heat treatment is surprisingly good. However, I have to mount the bulb horizontally. Since the design is closed on all sides, I'm not sure how well it will handle the heat in this situation. I then checked that the lume markings are correct. I used the same camera settings and photographed with this lamp along with another lamp with similar specs (3000K, 7200 lumens). The picture looks very similar, so I assume the lumen values are correct. I want my lamp not to flicker. The description doesn't say if they flicker or not, but corn cobs generally do, so I just assumed this bulb flickers as well. To confirm, I took a super slow motion video on my phone showing how it works. The bulb flickers, which is unusual for corn lanterns. So I had to return the product. In summary, it has a decent aluminum construction but lacks the key safety features of the LED chips. While it handles heat well, longevity will be an issue considering LEDs aren't environmentally sealed. The lumen markings should be correct assuming my pilot light is marked correctly. There is a flicker problem. But if you don't care about the flicker problem, I'd say you're better off buying a set of regular LED bulbs from Walmart, 4 bulbs for less than $20, which gives you about 6400 lumens in total. which is much cheaper.
