I needed a case for my children's make-up supplies and after browsing I found 'painting case' and 'lockable briefcase' which turned out to be the most popular items. I have to say that it is perfect for my needs. Closing the floodgates, I assume the old models didn't work? The lower part is covered with ribbed padding while the upper part is covered with regular padding. The slots are not lined up exactly, so if you don't fill the slots they may come loose or be a little crooked. The bottom in the horizontal position and in the vertical position has soft corners. The organizer tip is not suitable for anything larger than a thick marker. I also like that there is enough space between the top of the dividers and the lid so I can place the half-inch flat case on top of all my stuff.
