Review on πŸ’» ELSRA USB Wired ControlPad PK-2068 - Black (23 Key, 2-Level Programmable, 2 USB Hub) for Windows - Numeric Keypad with Programming Capabilities by Mark Hamblin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good hardware, tricky software, read all other reviews for details

5 stars for hardware, 3 stars for software. This pad is good for sending key press sequences. Please note that the software has some quirks and you should read the guide fully. Programming/Configuration Tips: - Keystrokes can ONLY be programmed by pressing in the UI, although it looks like you can type text into a field (don't type !tempting, but don't do it!) - in a paper brochure is there an example how to put capital letters, follow the instructions carefully - I had to switch to another PC to program successfully (this is part of Elsra's FAQ). The first computer I tried on said "programming error" for every key, but all worked EXCEPT for the line that contained a capital letter. Runs on a separate PC, each key says "Successful Programming" and works, including the capital letter sequence. Both machines were Dell with the latest version of Windows 10 - didn't work on desktops, worked on laptops. If you've read all the other reviews and understood the limitations, the hardware seems really great even after setting it up. For my needs, I only set the top four keys as "[username], tab, [password], enter". This allows you to quickly dial "1, 2, 3, 4" with one hand to log in instead of 30+ keystrokes with two hands.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
