Update 5/30/17: Within 30 days this item started shorting and would not turn on/off. Sent back and replaced quickly. It's been one of my favorite instruments ever since. Unfortunately, a short circuit occurred again a month ago. I ordered another brand and continued to use that as a backup. It literally exploded in my hand this morning when I tried to turn it on. Damaged the bathroom countertop but luckily I avoided injury. Please learn from my mistake. If you are having similar issues with this item, it would be wise to get rid of it. This hair straightener is (literally) life changing. I can't say enough about it. It works. My hair looks great. It is straight without being a straight stick. It has a rebound, shine. And the best part is that now you only need about 5 minutes to style your hair. It used to take me 20 or 30 minutes to tame all of my natural curls. This straightener handles it with no problem. DIY and prefer and get one. You will not regret it.
