Bought for hiking in the mountains by the river. These are the only shoes my daughter wore for the entire trip, even on the hikes! They didn't tear, they were very tight but not tight and they were strong. The bottom has thick rubber that doesn't add much weight and won't rub your feet even with a thick brush. They slipped a bit more in the water, and she took them off as she rowed because the water got between the soles of her feet and the shoes themselves, slowing her down. In the end a good buy. Also, if anyone cares, they fade very quickly when they dry in the sun.
