Honestly I just put it on yesterday but put four bikes on it and rode them into town. Not sure I'll hold the stability strut over my regular hitch striker. It's still moving in the receiver, so maybe not worth it. I can just lock it like a normal towbar. As for the foam covering the "J-Rods" that hold the bikes. To prevent sun fading or splitting or even excessive wear and tear, I simply took an electric reel and wrapped each reel before it wore out. (Look at the photos) Looks great and I specifically chose the blue color so others can see this idea in the future. And if we really wanted to split the rack in half and just use it for two bikes, we could. I'm not sure we'll ever do that, but maybe we'd do it by a move or two. Anyway, it's good to know we can. Set up/assembly was very easy, direction is clear and almost out of place, but nice to have again. I love that the tires can be attached with velcro as an extra safety measure. When the bikes are on it's too difficult to lower the bike rack to the ground without a second person, but the truth is how often you're carrying four bikes without someone. there to pull the pins out while lowering it to access the sunroof? One thing I would have liked would have been key locks to keep each "J-Bar" on the bike. Overall this is a great design and I look forward to using it for many years to come. . Now I just need to find some hooks to hang it on the garage wall.
