Honestly I just put it on yesterday but put four bikes on it and rode them into town. Not sure I'll hold the stability strut over my regular hitch striker. It's still moving in the receiver, so maybe not worth it. I can just lock it like a normal towbar. As for the foam covering the "J-Rods" that hold the bikes. 3 days, 3 trips to Home Depot, and another $60 later I finally assembled this bike rack. I pride myself on being able to pack my own stuff and I found it quite frustrating. I highly recommend the 4 bike rack. I had a cheap two wheeler hanger rack that scratched the bikes so badly from moving it and it was difficult to load bikes with sloping top tubes. I was expecting the 2" version to have an adapter but it unexpectedly came with a 2" pipe and a great wedge lock feature that keeps the coupler section securely in the coupler like it wasn't moving at all. This bike rack has turned out great. It requires full assembly from the front (which would be difficult without a linkage kit), but it also means you can use it as a full 4 bike bike rack or as a 2 bike bike rack if you don't fully assemble it. That flexibility was great and I use it all the time. I'm leaving the front half and back half built separately, just not connected.
