Perfect backpack with many useful features

Ideal for day trips. I used it every day while traveling around Costa Rica for two weeks during the rainy season. Light. High adjustment - chest strap and shoulder straps. Soft padding on the inside of the back and along the full length of the shoulder straps. Lightweight and comfortable to wear all day - even when I was full I often forgot I was wearing it. The material is also lightly treated to withstand the elements, mainly rain. However, it is NOT waterproof. While the main compartment stayed dry during Costa Rica downpours, items in the middle and top zippered compartments tended to be slightly damp, but not enough to soak the compartments or damage items. It's not as big as a normal book. Full size bag or day pack. Has three zipped compartments. The tip is the smallest and flattest. I've used it to store aviator goggles (with large lenses), lip balm, spare money, eye drops, and a 3-ounce round spray. bug spray. The central flash of medium size. Quite a few small items fit in, including a cosmetic bag, slim camera, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, maps, chewing gum, and other miscellaneous items. The side zipper is a large inner compartment. It easily fits a rolled-up raincoat, long wallet, eyeglass case, guidebooks, iPad mini and snacks, as well as Bucknell binoculars (full-size 7x40) on a daily basis with limited space. There are two side mesh holders, big enough for my pint water bottle on one side and a rolled up towel or jacket (or other water bottle) on the other. There is also a handy mesh that unfolds from a small zipped pocket at the bottom of the pack where it is securely stitched to the inside of the bag base which in turn is attached to two strong one-piece metal loops at the top. I used it to hold my raincoat while stuffing my bag and pockets with other things. Depending on your needs, as long as you bring snacks and a decent SLR you'll be fine. Again, this is NOT a full sized backpack as it is a "daypack" but will do for a full day. It will not fit in sleeping bags, large beach towels, or other similar items not intended for a "daypack". However, it is sufficient for most other needs during the day.
