UPDATE: After writing this review my father's dementia was getting worse and worse 10 channels and used this remote control. It has worked wonders. Thank you for that, and if your loved one just needs to change the channel and volume, this is a good choice. Unfortunately, this remote didn't work well for my aging father with memory. Problems with not only not always turning on the TV and DirecTV receiver at the same time, but the simple fact that there were (obviously) no numbers, so it still defaulted to the complicated remote control that came with the receiver . It's not their fault that there was the last problem so I can't blame the company for that. Just keep that in mind if you're buying this for someone who doesn't keep it on the same channel or just changes channels like me. assumed it was my father. Overall it's a good remote, although the power issue was frustrating, and I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't need those pesky number keys.
