As you can see in the photo, the tip of each candle is higher on one side than the other. For this reason, they are best used where they are visible from one side, such as on a shelf or dresser. However, my husband and I bought them for our dining table because the wind from the air conditioning in the summer makes real candles drip and we are very satisfied. We have the higher edge of each candle towards the outer edge of our round table so that they are facing each other and we are looking at each from the side. The remote control works well, the batteries haven't had to be changed yet.
