Nice candles, but unreliable. I first bought them on April 6th, 2020 and used them every night for 4 hours with a timer. However, six weeks later, both tapers stopped working, even after changing the battery. I sent them back for an exchange and received the second set on 05/24/2020. They worked great until January 15, 2021 when one of them stopped working even after changing the battery. They are now non-tradable and $28.68 is too expensive to change spark plugs every 7 months. As you can see in the photo, the tip of each candle is higher on one side than the other. For this reason, they are best used where they are visible from one side, such as on a shelf or dresser. However, my husband and I bought them for our dining table because the wind from the air conditioning in the summer makes real candles drip and we are very satisfied. Very happy with this version. You'll need 2 x AA NiMH cases each, which glow pretty well. The moving flame makes it a little more interesting. You can activate it by pressing the bottom or using the remote control. BTW the remote seems to be using IR so you need to be nearby and pointing at the lighted ends. I bought Ksperway (Ivory) and Luminara (Red) for comparison. In general, both devices are very similar. The only noticeable difference I noticed was the color of the light and the markings on the inside of the base for the batteries (Luminara has instructions printed on the inside). The ivory candle was warmer, but that could just be the color difference. The outer wax feels really real. Not recommended. I bought an alternative to Luminara candles. They got very good reviews with a faulty timer and remote control warning. Of course, the remote control turns a candle on and off, not the order. I replaced the remote battery just to be sure and it's just a bad unit. The question is how many units are bad?
