I have chosen my child who is almost three years old. Her older sister has a big children's hockey stick and she plays with her father. She wanted to play but I couldn't find a racquet her size. That's great! That's just the right height for a toddler. The entire racquet is also padded so it doesn't get hurt if it misses, just like we do when we get knocked down. The ball is soft but not foldable. It's a medicine ball, but it rolls well and plays well on tarmac. We don't have the slickest access road and we've found it works well. I give this 4 stars because of two things. First, it is difficult for the baby to hold the wand. I would like the upper to be a bit narrower so it's easier for them to get used to the stance and game mechanics. Sometimes she gets frustrated and has to switch hands to keep the stick. Second, the ball won't last long. After driving on the driveway for about an hour, it showed signs of wear. I don't expect it to last very long but a slightly thicker material would really help. Overall I'm happy with this set and really enjoying watching my husband play hockey with the girls in the backyard. They like to join in and everyone has their own equipment. This is a solid 4 star toy but can easily be upgraded to 5 stars. I'd still happily pay full price for it and plan on buying another to replace this one when it wears out too much.
