I am very pleased with this set of 4 star felting needles 38 gauge. I used it to felt 100% acrylic wool from a Japanese felt set. You can see the spikes on the sharp end. He quickly felt wool with just a few stitches. The needles seemed very strong. I've only used 1 needle when felting, but if you had a larger project you can easily feel faster by holding 2-3 needles. This product comes with plastic cases for safe storage of needles. This is a good medium gauge for needle felting. With these 38 stars, I was able to 1) feel the shapes, 2) add detail, and 3) create a smooth surface. I say "smooth" because some of my creations showed tiny holes on the surface after felting, but they rub off easily. If I were very passionate about this hobby I would probably buy a #40 needle or a triangular needle in addition to this product for even finer detail/smooth finish, but by purchasing ONLY THIS PRODUCT you can easily make amazing felted creations create without problems.
