It's definitely a loose fit. I have to say they are larger than the regular 9/10 although I could perhaps shrink them in the wash. The cotton fabric is soft and comfortable and the shirts are of good quality. The fabric is slightly see through which means there is likely something underneath this shirt. My kids don't like wearing shirts under a t-shirt so maybe that doesn't work for us. These are great for a tie-dye project and are similar to the ones we buy at an art supply store alongside tie-dye sets.
