They emit a soft white light at 2700K instead of the yellowish light that most Edison bulbs emit at 2200K. But that's usually the purpose of Edison bulbs, retro look and color. However, I use them in a ceiling fan in a cathedral ceiling dining room, and more light needs whiter, brighter light. I have them on a dimmer and they dim to at least 10%. I have 2 wall sconces in my living room with clear glass covers that we use for extra lighting or just use to create a low light ambiance and 2200K bulbs fill that need. I can't find these 2700K Edison style light bulbs in the big stores around town so I had to order them. My daughter recently remodeled her kitchen and installed some pendant lights above the island counter and a new chandelier above the dining table. She installed 2200K Edison bulbs as that was the only color temperature she could buy locally. As soon as she saw my light bulbs she said she would order some when she got home.
