Increased microphone volume

Before this device I had to increase the gain and volume of the microphone, which resulted in severe distortions in the sound. This device was able to increase the volume of the microphone without introducing distortion. I think I should have just bought a fancy USB mic instead of a regular one, but oh well.

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

Garbage Electronics

Still required a significant increase in gain to get the right volume, which meant tons of electrical noise. If you don't need it to solve your ModMic's volume problems, there's no reason to buy the branded Antlion that's twice the price of others. Just take one of these. Update: Input voltage tested at 2.95V. The whole point of running the ModMic from a USB sound card is to get 5VDC fed directly into the microphone input via USB. this is clearly not the case here.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Expensive

Leads the mic back into the headphone stream

This adapter is ok as some other reviews say it's not the best mic or headphone quality. But for me there is one feature that breaks the rules and that is the fact that it injects a small mic volume into the headphone stream. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's meant to help you hear yourself, but either way it's annoying and necessary. I recommend the pluggable USB audio adapter for demanding microphone users!

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Made a huge difference compared to an unknown brand or mic jack

I use this with Modmic Uni and have always been disappointed with the background noise and low volume of both the 3.5mm mic jack and the unknown Brand 3.5 for USB. Adapter. This adapter has eliminated both of these problems. It's probably not the end of the whole USB sound card, but for $15 it was worth a notable upgrade for Discord calls (note: I didn't test the headphones, just used them for the mic).

  • This is amazing

  • Annoying

Ideal for removing static charges.

After less than a month of use, the static noise from the microphone and headphones is cracking your ears. People could hear me, but they also heard a lot of noise. Tried on multiple systems with the same result. I contacted Antlion for a replacement and they sent me a wall of text. They also wanted some 15 second audio clips to prove it was broken. Given the number of steps taken and the number of parts returned, it's obvious they've been through this before with this product. Wasn't worth my…

With correct voltage on Modmic 4

I have a Modmic 4 that was doing all sorts of weird things when I plugged it directly into my MB (low or high volume, weird noises, shutting down etc). Once purchased, no problem! Keep in mind that I have my own audio setup so I can't comment on the audio output on this thing.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Expensive

Terrible/choppy sound on Mac OS X with Zoom

This device didn't work properly with Zoom - I suspect some kind of bitrate mismatch. It worked fine in many other contexts, but maybe something in the zoom setup is causing the problem. After opening for about 10 seconds, the sound becomes very intermittent, glitchy and unrecognizable. I replaced it with SoundBlaster and everything is fine. I strongly suspect that the device is ignoring some settings and simply returning an audio stream with the wrong bitrate, which is causing the mismatch.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Upgradable

Fixed Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Issue

Bought a new headset with ModMic 5.0. I was having EMI issues when plugged into my computer's 3.5mm jack and the front I/O ports weren't working for some reason. I did a quick search and went to the Antlion website where they told me to try the USB DAC which they had a handy link to. It arrived and installation was extremely easy thanks to its plug and play capability; Just check the default audio settings on your computer. As the title suggests, this immediately fixed the EMI issue I was…

A MUST IF YOUR MIC IS LOW!

I am a fairly experienced PC user and after purchasing a microphone with a traditional analog input (Antlion v3) I was told that my volume was low. After checking a few settings and drivers with other people on Discord, I had to search the internet to find out that some motherboards weren't delivering enough voltage to the microphones and my microphone required around 5V. This adapter was exactly what I needed. it worked right away. I would recommend plugging a microphone into this adapter and…
