Much better than the built-in microphone.

So when I record videos I usually use wireless microphones, but sometimes you don't have a way or it's inconvenient or something like that to film what you're filming so you can use the built in microphone. Mic on your DSLR (oh yeah.) Or you can get a decent gun mic like this one. And that's why I got it, because the sound quality of the built-in microphone is always terrible. The sound quality of this compared to the built-in microphone? Pfff Day and night. Due to the limited frequency range (or maybe proper dynamic range) of the built ins, they always sound "small" if that makes sense. It sounds MUCH louder than the built in. It's literally the only gun mic I own, so I can't really compare here. But as I said, the sound quality is significantly higher than with the built-in microphone. The mic itself is all metal, the brackets are plastic, and it comes with a gold-plated 1/8-inch stereo mic cable. Photographer Trekkie, above) and a nice semi-hard case that will hold it all. Surprisingly, while this is a good all-metal mic, it's surprisingly light. As I said, my first gun mic, very happy with it. I love the build quality, the sound quality, and everything under $80. If you work hard like me and use your DSLR or mirrorless camera's built-in mic, why not stop there? "Sound quality costs half your production. And it beats my 80D's built-in mic. I can highly recommend it."
