This pup gets very hot

At first I was excited about this great technology, but after plugging it into my iMac's USB port, the drive started to get hot. After less than an hour of use, the disc was too hot to remove with bare hands. I fetched a hot mongrel from the kitchen, pulled out the disc and took it out with my gloved hand. I'm wondering since "heat is the enemy of electronics" how long this device will last.
