. I am new to wet shaving with a dual blade razor. The first razor I bought was part of a kit and it shaved well, but maybe too well. Of course this was my first foray, but I had to be very careful or I would have many cuts or razor cuts. I quickly realized that not all razors are created equal and some are "softer" or "more aggressive" than others. Apparently that first razor was aggressive. It's also a 3-piece construction, which isn't bad, but I'm getting tired of taking it apart, cleaning, and putting it back together every time I shave. there was interest. After a little research I settled on a Parker 96R and damn I'm glad I did. First, it looks very nice on my shaving and brush stand. Doors are good and responsive, close tightly. As for cleaning, it's really nice to have quick access to the blade and inside of the mechanism. Changing the blade only takes a few seconds. Upon loading my first blade, I immediately noticed that there was significantly less blade exposed than my other razor. It made shaving much easier (for me) and left me with no shaving marks or cuts. In fact, this is the third or fourth time I've gotten the smoothest shave of my life using it (and the Shark blades that came with it). When I'm done rinsing the razor, I just open the doors and let it dry. It seems fairly well made, with good weight and excellent value for money. All my life I've heard men complain about shaving like it's some kind of hard work. I personally have never felt that way. Of course, I don't have a super rough or fast-growing beard, so I can't fully see things from their point of view. But it was never a chore - at least it was just a boring shave with a cartridge razor. That's what I look forward to in the morning - the more, the better I get. I love the ritual as a whole, so the process of preparing the brush, lathering, shaving, shaving and applying the aftershave gives me real joy. This is a big part of my morning routine that helps me start the day off right and gives me confidence. This is especially true now that I have a razor that fits me so well. I'm learning a lot along the way, most notably that a good shave is a combination of several factors: razor, blade, shaving cream/soap, skin type, technique, etc. I'm definitely improving, which is nice to see. . As for the razor part for a close shave, I highly recommend this model if you have more sensitive skin or are looking to try a dual-blade wet shave for the first time. 5 Stars.
