A reviewer noted that the blocks came without ink. I would change this a bit to say that they may have applied some ink to test the block, but when I received it there wasn't enough ink on the block to seal the 4" x 4" stamp print I had, which was almost all black. The second possibility is that the notebook I ordered has been on someone's shelf for a year or more and the ink has dried. Both cases can be explained by the fact that there was ink on the stamp, but not enough ink to paint over a large stamp. So I believe a small ink tank is sent with the pad. I recommend ordering ink as well, especially if you have a busy schedule. Also, I suspected the measurements were a little off since they barely covered my 4" x 4" stamp. But I measured the stamp and it was just over 4 x 4 inches. This rug covers 4 x 4 inches, but don't expect it to perform well on something large.
