The ultra-thin, see-through Microsoft Surface Keyboard Cover is an eco-friendly accessory for users who primarily use their Surface Pro as a laptop on their desk. What I liked: + Partly made from biodegradable materials + Fits well on my surface (2017 new version) + Washable + Feels high quality Things I didn't like: - Not so thin and flexible that it's not your ability quickly interferes with typing - Although the shape fits, it doesn't stay on the keyboard when mobile or not on a flat surface - The included adhesive/tape proved quite fiddly to apply - It is recommended to replace the keyboard cover every 6th -8 months to exchange. While the keyboard cover does its job of protecting the keyboard from oil, dust, food, or whatever else your matte, slick, and fairly expensive keyboard cover might attract, the thickness (albeit fairly thin) combined with somewhat stiff silicone is what makes you stand out print on the fly. Your keyboard is a bit bulky. The pressure required to activate a key with a single press feels like it's actually doubled with the keycap closed, which becomes all the more apparent the faster you type the often-missing dashes on each key that Hit them with your smaller digits. The trade-off is keeping your keyboard cover clean and oil-free, and protecting the keys themselves from scratches from your fingernails, which can be worth it. It's worth noting that with prolonged use it became a little easier to type with the cap on, the pressure required either decreased as the silicone relaxed with use, or got used to typing with the cap on, which is a possible factor. The keyboard is made of 'consumable' silicone, which means the silicone will degrade and is therefore environmentally friendly, but this means you'll need to replace this coating as it will degrade over time. The description on the box recommends changing the case every 6-8 months A big factor against this case is that while it fits the keys fairly well it doesn't stay on the keyboard and comes off/falls off fairly easily. The instructions on the box recommend sticking the included tape/strips to the keyboard if you "pick it up a lot", but the included glue/tape was almost impossible to stick. I struggled to remove both sides of the backing paper over the adhesive and the tape was so thin and sticky that it immediately stuck to itself, crumpled and eventually turned into a tiny ball of tape. The pre-cut little sticky rectangles resisted application and were eventually kicked out after numerous attempts to get them to work. Even though it was so sticky, it seemed like it was some kind of tape/glue that would eventually have to melt onto the keyboard/lid and be removed with chemicals. In testing, even lifting the laptop to move it to a new position or folding the lid back to fit the lid on the back for using in tablet form, the lid would fold over or fall off completely , sometimes I didn't notice it, just found it. on earth, elsewhere later. To me that's kind of a deal breaker as the purpose of the Surface Pro is to be mobile and dynamic to use. Perhaps it would be easier to keep track of and more convenient if the cover stayed on the keyboard a little better, with a better way of sticking it to the cover, or even a small thin folder to store when not in use. Overall, the keyboard cover serves to protect the keyboard, but does not make typing noticeably more difficult and also literally falls behind the dynamic shape of the surface, which often falls down or collapses during transport/conversion. from laptop to tablet and vice versa. If you can ignore these limitations, it's still worth buying for the price.
