I bought this as a last-minute back up dress since the original evening gown that I ordered from another retailer (not ebay) arrived with the #@!% security tag still on it and I didn't think I could get it removed/returned before the event I was going to.This isn't an evening gown, however, the length is perfect and I can dress it up with some accessories to make it a worthy replacement for an evening gown. The empire waist is slimming and the dress has pockets (!). The material looks like silk, but has a forgiving elasticity to it.I'm 5'7" and normally wear a size 8-10 in dresses. Since I'm a 38D I went with the Large just in case they ran small. I possibly could have gotten away with a Medium, but I'm not swimming in the Large and having the flow of a generous clothing size for this kind of dress if better than having it be clingy.A sequinned shawl or mini cape might also help to dress this up. The wine color I ordered is pretty true to the item listing photos--it just looks brighter in my photos. (It's truly not so Handmaid's Tale Red, I swear, as it is in my photos.)All in all, this can be a great date night or not too formal night out dress, however, it also can easily be "formaled up" with some accessories. (And at just under $50 it's a steal compared to most basic formal gowns.)
