I was looking for a small scratching post that would fit in that space between my new scratching post and the end table, which I thought looked different than it did. I wanted something with a hood as my cats like to lie on top and love soft bedding. I also wanted something that I didn't have to twist together. When I found this I thought it was great. After receiving it and putting it together (which took 10 seconds) I knew I made the right decision. The cube fitted the empty space perfectly and within 5 minutes my overweight cat was in the cube and tidying up. If you have bought ordinary carpeted cat houses, then you know that big cats cannot use them. In all the apartments that I have lived in, my cats have only slept on them. That's why I bought this cube. I figured the top is what would be used. The top is used. My cats love soft beds. The inner mat is not padded. I ended up putting a small blanket inside so my cats have something soft to lie on. Another reason I chose this one is that you can put a second cube on top of it. In the future I will definitely take the second cube. If you have bigger cats this is a must.
