I recently bought a new car and wanted a low profile phone holder that would fit in the factory radio's CD slot. I wasn't sure how these magnetic phone holders would work, especially on larger phones like the Iphone 7+. I didn't want to expose the phone to a magnet either. After some research I found that the magnet doesn't affect the phone so I decided to give it a try. Installation was easy: you press a button to insert the device into the CD slot. Once you release it, the protrusions expand to put tension on the slot, which is held fairly securely. I have a phone case so I used a piece of metal with no glue and just placed it behind the phone. In fact, the magnet held the phone in place more securely than expected. The best part is that you can position the phone however you want, at the angle you want, either with the magnet on the phone or with the device itself as it has a 'hinge' that allows for different angles. I didn't make any sudden stops or aggressive driving, but the phone stays in place during cornering and normal braking. I'm glad I took the risk.
