Review on 🎙️ Coby CXR190-4G Digital Voice Recorder with Built-in Speaker by Jared Allred

Just used this for the first time to record a lecture. I would give this 4 stars as I think it is great value for money except for one thing. When I played my hour and a half recording, there were many periods of massive distortion where the audio was completely unreadable. I haven't done much at the moment to find out why this might be the case. When I find out I will post the cause and solution. If not, I'll probably go back and buy a Sony. I hope this can be fixed, the features and quality seem amazing (in comparison the Sony recorder costs around $17 or almost 50% more than I paid for this unit). Very disappointed to hear distortion which can occur every 5 minutes for about 20 seconds or not distort for an extended period of time but was consistently present in my 1.5 hour recording. UPDATE: I called Coby's customer service and the service was good as I didn't have to wait very long. After explaining the problem with the device, I was told that the device had a defective microphone and was asked to send it back via Revain.Summation. The device would be a great purchase if it were truly fully functional. I could try to get a replacement but instead of having another mangled record I buy a more expensive Sony equivalent.
