Bought for my kid for A&P college classes but couldn't get it to work. Told her to read the manual and use it. After reading the instructions, she couldn't get it to work either. After a week of trying, I decided to take out the batteries. The inside of the recorder was covered in dried battery acid, brand new batteries I had installed a week earlier. The tape recorder really seemed too light and cheaply made. The case was thin and thin. I will never buy a Coby product again.

I've only had it 3 days but it works great. I use it at work for protection, you can play recordings without headphones or computer to connect the USB cable, batteries last 8 hours or more. It has an on-screen time and date display, it has an SD card slot in case you need more storage space, you can delete or listen to your recordings at will through the speaker or alone with headphones. Just used this for the first time to record a lecture. I would give this 4 stars as I think it is great value for money except for one thing. When I played my hour and a half recording, there were many periods of massive distortion where the audio was completely unreadable. I haven't done much at the moment to find out why this might be the case. When I find out I will post the cause and solution. If not, I'll probably go back and buy a Sony.
