At first I was reluctant to pay that much when so many cheaper ones are available. However, most of the cheaper models do not come with a power adapter. When you add the cost of a good quality power adapter that provides enough current for fast charging, you've spent almost the same. Mophie has excellent looks. It looks like a solid piece of aluminum covered in rubberized plastic. The cable won't pull it off the desk/table and your phone won't slip off. If you remove the phone while charging, it will get a little warm, but definitely not hot. Once the phone is fully charged the Mophie will stop charging and when you pick it up the phone will be completely cold. Also, I don't like messing around with cheap stuff when it comes to charging. Too much can go wrong. Many other Qi chargers have bright LEDs. I wanted to put something on my bedside table so I wouldn't need a bright light. The Mophie has a very small LED on the underside of the curved edge that barely illuminates the surface below. Ideal for the bedroom. In addition, the phone is not complicated. Simply place your phone so that the middle part of the back of the phone is on the charger and it will charge. I've added some photos to show the discrete LED charge indicator. The last photo shows the light is off but the room was dark and the flash overwhelmed the LED.
