I really like it. I usually wear a size XL, I'm 5ft 7" and a size 16. However due to the size of the dress it seemed like it would fit and it works! I am also 52 years old and can NEVER wear polyester or I will swear a lot because of my hormones. The label says 100% cotton. I'm not sure I fully believe that, but if it's not cotton then it's probably rayon, which I agree too. It's very loose and comfortable but still has some shape, at least for my size. I can see where it can be shapeless but still very comfortable for someone much smaller. I have no transparency issues because I bought the black one. It definitely wasn't meant to be warm or thick so I wasn't sure how to rate them but overall definitely 5 stars!
