It does exactly what it's supposed to do and the finish is good for my little metal hammer. Delivery was quick. I learned to use a small, flat leather sandbag underneath to muffle the noise. It's a handy and essential tool for the jewelry I make, so I'm glad I found a good one!

Size not quite as advertised. See photos. Slightly rough around the edges. Good solid weight. The product is slightly oiled in the packaging, which is to be expected. Not packaged properly for shipping. The block was packed. This package was packed in a small cardboard box which was not taped to prevent falling out so it fell out and crashed on its journey in a medium sized cardboard box along with another small item in the same packaging (but no product was damaged) . . ).

I was pleased with this bench except that it was coated with an oily finish. It was packaged well so all I had to do was wipe it down with a towel. However, it would be nice to anticipate such a situation. A note on the packaging could explain the need for oily residue, assuming there was such a need. The bench worked pretty well to make brass earrings in my rock club class. I have no idea if the price was competitive. Convenience was my motivating factor.
