Review on Taliah Waajid Kinky Natural Herbal by Debra Depts

Formula changed now mineral oil + Polyquat-32

I have been using this product continuously for about 2 years. I have 3c/4a hair and the glide was amazing and I was able to detangle it easily. I liked the low porosity ingredients for my hair, they are free of proteins, mineral oils and polyquats. Mineral oil is difficult to remove from hair and causes build-up very easily, and polyquats also build up on hair strands and are difficult to remove even with sulfate shampoo. Since my hair is low porosity, protein can make it frizzy and dry. When I wanted to repurchase this product that I have been using for so long, I noticed that the ingredients have changed and the product has been completely reformulated. Looking at the empty bottle I have right now, the original ingredients were: deionized water, vegetable glycerin, soybean oil. , Ceteareth-20, Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Parfum, Carrot Seed Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol. NEW Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Mineral Oil (Paraffinium Liquidium), Polyquaterium 32 and Paraffinum Liquidium, Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii), D&C Yellow #5, Vitamin E (Tocopherol Acetate), Green Tea (Camellia Sinensis). , Sage Oil Extract (Salvia Officinalis), Silk Proteins, Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis), Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol and Fragrance (Perfume). It's a shame Taliah Waajid turned this into an inferior product. I find the addition of these ingredients, which are known to be harmful to natural hair, to be against their spirit and make me look askance at the company as a whole. I also use their curl cream and co-wash and will be on the lookout for changes to them as well.
