I followed the instructions and used Dawn Dish Soap and allowed the mixture to sit for a few hours. We tried outside on a hot sunny day (supposedly not ideal), and were able to make large bubbles. Most of the bubbles did seem to pop on their own right away. My kids as well as all the neighbor kids ranging from 3-11 years old were easily able to make bubbles with the wand. My advice would be to do this over dirt or cement as the bubble mixture dripped off the wand itself and killed a good chunk of my grass.
