Review on Compact and Versatile M-Audio Midisport Uno USB MIDI 💻 Interface for Portable Music Production (16 x 16 MIDI Channels) by Ray Cole

I previously wrote a review about this but deleted it because it gave too many stars. I found that the problem I was having when typing notes on my computer didn't seem to be related to my keyboard, but to this interface. I couldn't get it to work with my Yamaha PSR-275 keyboard and I couldn't get support. I was trying to hook up a keyboard to my PC (with an Athlon 64, 1GB RAM etc; the computer is fine) to play the PrintMusic 2006 notation program. With MIDI ExpLab I was able to output data to my keyboard, but when I entered data from the keyboard to the computer, the computer only perceived what I was playing, with an interval of a few seconds. It's the same with PrintMusic 2006. I couldn't figure out if it was a product or something else. I borrowed a Yamaha Clavinova and the interface cables worked fine with this keyboard, leading me to believe the interface worked fine and that my PSR keyboard was the problem. But then I found an online forum where someone said M-Audio admitted that this doesn't work with all Yamaha keyboards. Note that XP users probably shouldn't install drivers (disk included); it's not listed in the very sparse product insert, but the company's website says XP should just recognize it. The company apparently didn't get an XP-compatible logo from Microsoft, but they swear it works on XP, and it seems to work. I eventually returned this and got the Yamaha UX16 interface, installed the latest drivers from Yamaha's online site (which strangely don't always "stick" to my computer) and my keyboard sends the notes to the computer correctly. This seems to prove that the problem was with the M-Audio Midisport Uno interface. This interface works with some keyboards but not others. When you receive it, save the packaging in case you need to return it (it's very good packaging because it just pops open instead of forcing you to rip it apart).
