I've read LOTS of distilling reviews to keep them from running out of water. I set a timer for about 3-1/2 hours and turn it off. I've had it boil away a couple of times and there was a bit of burnt shit on the bottom. However, a 30 minute soak in white vinegar will solve this problem. It's not the distiller's fault, it's the crap in your water. So far I've been making a batch or two of our moisturizer every day and it works flawlessly. I will say as others have said the power button is useless. It doesn't work for us, but I just pull the plug. It's really not a problem for me. I don't drink distilled water, so I can't comment on the taste. However, since I stop this before it boils off, I can say I can smell calcium in the rest of the water in the tank. A LOT OF. So it definitely works in removing dirt from the water. Also, since I've been using this still, our humidifier hasn't had to be cleaned. Love it and saved $25-$30 over other more expensive ones.
