Review on 🐱 Long-Lasting Calming Collar for Cats - Relieve Anxiety, Stress, and Promote Relaxation - 3 Pack, 30 Days, Adjustable Breakaway Design - Gray by Tara Wilson

Updated collar design with detachable part (IMPORTANT for cat's safety)

Made of polyethylene (plastic), the collar is packed in a sealed foil pouch, which is very effective in preserving the collar's aromatic properties. The pack lists the active ingredients as 1% pheromones, 0.4% lavender essential oil and 0.4% chamomile essential oil. The collar smells great without being overpowering or overly harsh. There is a very faint earthy, musky undertone that I think might be pheromones, but not being a cat I can't say for sure. The collar loop attaches with a one-way ratchet, similar to a full-size tie-down strap, as it allows for tightening but not slipping off. Unfortunately, many of these collars that I have seen for sale do not have a molded part of the collar where the plastic is thinned or structurally weakened to allow it to come loose. If the collars don't have this protective safety feature, you're essentially attaching a loop around your cat's neck. This can be particularly problematic if you have an outdoor cat, but I don't think too many pet owners will put a comforting collar on an outdoor cat. I think I can add a few extra notches with x-acto to the tear-off part to loosen the collar up even more before letting the cat wear the collar unattended. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I'd rather lose my collar than my cat. The collar can be exchanged at any time. As for its sedative effects, it's too early to tell and I may update this review with my opinion on the matter in the future. But a nice and unexpected side benefit is that my cats smell great! Now they're almost like charming "Pet-Purri" pouches.
