Review on πŸŒ‹ Lava the Original 11.5-Inch Silver Base Lamp: Pink Wax in Clear Liquid by Joshua Follansbee

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Liquid NOT CLEAR

Another update: maybe the third time will be nice. I exchanged this lamp as it arrived cloudy. It should not be. This particular lamp shows signs of wear and was shaken/shipped hot. A new/unused lamp should have a hard wax disk with clear liquid on the underside. This lamp had a large bubbling wax at the bottom and a small drop floating with a cloudy liquid at the top. I'll try the vendor-recommended debunking procedure, but I expect to send that one back as well. UPDATE: After contacting the manufacturer, I was told the liquid was supposed to be non-dairy. The milky tint occurs when the lamp is shaken during shipping, and they recommend turning the lamp on and off "quickly" (2 hours on, 2 hours off) over several days. If this doesn't clear the liquid I should contact the seller for an exchange. The manufacturer (Schylling Toys) credits the seller for the exchange, but not the end buyer. OLD REVIEW: The image on Revain looks like there is a clear liquid in this lamp. IT IS NOT. This liquid is milky. I don't think it's a mistake, I think this particular lamp should be like that. I'm not a big fan of the white liquid but I don't consider this a defect so I'm giving this lamp a 3*, might have gotten a 4 or 5 if the liquid was clear or on the Revain side. said he was white. The lamp heats up fairly quickly, about 1 hour. The lava seems to flow smoothly, forming 1 or 2 balls at a time. Regardless of the size of the lamp, all lava balls are roughly the same size, so a lamp as small as 11 inches can only support 1 or 2 balls at a time. As small as this lamp is, I would consider it a night light, but I don't think a lava lamp of any size would be a good idea for a child's room. It is very important that the lava lamps do not tremble or even move while the wax is in a liquid state. This will mix the liquid with the wax, causing bubbles to form in the wax and the wax will float and remain on top of the lamp as a lump-like curd.
