For many years I've used anything handy to hold patterns and fabrics (phone, mug, roll of tape, pliers) and it didn't always help, especially when I needed something to hold. First I used them the day I got them. I had to work on a smaller table than usual and the pieces of the pattern were sliding around and driving me insane. They are very useful for height and weight. I took 8 sets to make sure I have enough on hand when moving patterns/fabrics. Gently stroke the fabric to adjust the design as needed. There the size (height) varies a bit, but it's not enough to make a difference. I believe the product description states a weight range for this reason. I also like the fact that they are transparent so I don't move them around to see what's tagged underneath. I expect to have fewer problems with the fabric slipping off the edge of the table once I lay out the pattern. I wish I had bought them sooner!
