UPDATE: I contacted the company and they were very polite and quick to 'get it right'. Thank you for being the company behind your product and for caring about your customers. Changed from 1 to 3 stars ORIGINAL: The base has a plastic insert that sticks to the wine bottle. The helical shape will rip open corks if you're the type to keep them for tricky uses. When I twist the opener all the way, it still takes a lot of fiddling to get the cork all the way out. I tried using the cap to open a bottle of bubbly and it bent before I opened it. I'm assuming barley will work, but I'm not at all happy with the quality.
