Advice on awkward sizing

As a nursing student preparing for a clinical rotation, I have found it incredibly difficult to find a pair of shoes that fit the rules of the program (all white, no stitching or holes in front) . , easy to clean), but don't look like women's clogs. During my research I came across these shoes that remind me a bit of Puma sneakers so I decided to give them a try. As most of the reviews here indicate, they are on the small side. I bought a size larger than I usually buy and they fit well apart from a few bruises near the toes and a sharply curved heel. I tried wearing the shoes during the day, but it was barely two hours before the back of my Achilles tendon was ripped off by the sharp plastic biting into it. I noticed a few other reviews mentioning this as well. My goal in writing this review is to offer what I came up with as a free and easy solution to this problem. Because the rubber/plastic material that makes up the shoe is malleable, it only takes a little heat and then locks in place to permanently change the shape of the shoe. I used this technique to reshape the heel so that it no longer curves too much towards the foot. I achieved this by holding the blow dryer to my heel for about thirty seconds and then bending the rubber back. A better idea would be to work in smaller increments to adjust the shoe - I had no idea how successful this would be and ended up having to fold the material back in after it stretched too much. Likewise, you can heat the front of the boot by putting your foot in it and simply pushing up on the toe box to permanently release the pressure. Please see my photos to get a better idea of how the heel flexed. It does create a slight "wing" but my smock still lies neatly on my back. Of course, the fact that it has to be done at all to create a comfortable shoe takes a few points off an otherwise great product. , but the fact remains that beggars cannot choose when there are very few options that meet certain requirements (and at such a low price).

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
