Review on Sangean PR D7 BK Rechargeable Portable by Kofi Wills

Bought September 2013. Worked well. Rarely used but batteries are always removed after use. Both rechargeable and alkaline batteries are used. Insert batteries, press power button, radio. Today, when PG&E turns off the power in an hour, puts in the batteries, presses the power button and I'm holding a brick. Tried, rechargeable and alkaline, dutifully flipped the little switch every time - totally unresponsive. No clicks, pops or magic smoke. ZIP Code Very frustrating, planned obsolescence comes right when we really need it to function. Luckily we also have a small emergency radio that is solar powered or crank charged and works perfectly. Of course we've had it since 2012 and when I checked our emergency supplies last summer the paint on it became sticky and tacky which cleaning with isopropyl alcohol fixed. But the radio itself works perfectly. Never buy Sangean again. I have old pocket radios from the 1960's that still work. There is no excuse for that.
