If you are afraid of a scratch on a black medal, a black marker will make it disappear and no one will ever know about it. If the wood is a little bruised here or there, that's just character. You don't need sophisticated assembly skills, but if you're obsessed with the fact that you have to drive in screws without a pre-drilled hole, or that the tiny indentations they made to align the parts don't quite line up, then just go into a good one furniture store and buy something ready assembled. Don't whine about paying what you paid for real wood!
