I am a full time postal worker and safety is my top priority. I drive an old but safest van I can find. My car's fan has gone weak. So for Fall/Winter 2018 I needed to find some kind of heater that plugs into the cigarette lighter and makes my commute and commute safer. I found a 12 volt windshield defroster. There were so many different ones to choose from. Customer reviews about such a product have never been unequivocal. About half of the buyers loved them and the other half hated them. My experience in 2017 confirmed this: only one of the two I bought gave heat. Then, in the fall of 2018, I found the Caframo Fairview 9303 model. Caframo differs from others in that it has 100 watts, while other brands have 150 or 200 watts, and Caframo has a unique unobtrusive size that perfectly matches the curvature of that dashboard to place it closer to the windshield. My Caframo fits perfectly, without bindings, with much more stability than other brands. The lower wattage reduces the number of blown fuses that other brand reviewers complain about, while still generating as much or more heat than the other types I've used. The price is $10 or more than other types and it's worth it! When my windshield is iced over, I start the engine, use the ice scraper and turn on the Caframo. After about 15 minutes, the windshield on the driver's side misted up. Since the Caframo is only 100 watts, you can buy a simple cigarette lighter splitter for about $3 and another Caframo for the passenger side defroster! 11/18/2018 Guest author
