I bought one of the cheap fakes first because I am CHEAP. Big mistake. One came with a broken USB connector housing. Chirp recognized it, but when I tried to load my configuration, my antenna got so hot (set on a garbage road) that it burned my fingers. I'm glad it didn't damage my radio or computer. I sent this back and ordered this from BTECH. It came and it wasn't the one, it had one plug instead of two. Make sure I order the correct one for my UV-5R (I did) and then contact BTECH through their website. Within 10 minutes I received an apologetic reply asking for my mailing address. It was 2 days ago on Monday. The replacement arrived today. Connected and earned instantly (tested on Win8.1 and 10 in case anyone is interested). I downloaded my configuration into CHIRP, made my changes and uploaded them to the radio. PAINLESS. Given the quality of the cable and the GREAT customer service I received, any further need will buy from BTECH. Don't waste your time and money on cheap stuff, just pull the trigger (seriously, what was I thinking saving less than $10?) and get this cable. You will not be disappointed. I just wish I had more programming so I can use it again :)
