I bought one of the cheap fakes first because I am CHEAP. Big mistake. One came with a broken USB connector housing. Chirp recognized it, but when I tried to load my configuration, my antenna got so hot (set on a garbage road) that it burned my fingers. I'm glad it didn't damage my radio or computer. Works great. I followed a link from btech's official website (Baofeng's official US distributor) to this Revain page. I've heard that Revain has fake cables that don't work(?) but I've had no problems with this cable. This cable uses FTDI chip, very reliable, never let me down. I originally bought a cheaper Baofeng programming cable that uses a Prolific chip. It locked my computer and never worked. Spend a little more on a cable and get this VERY good FTDI Programming USB Cable. I used it with the CHIRP software to program 4 radios in about 1 hour. The cable works fine. I used it to program my two BaoFeng UV-82HP several times. I'm not giving five stars for two reasons: 1. The addendum states that you don't need to download drivers in Windows 7. Not at all. Windows 7 does not have drivers for the chipset in this cable. So I had to download and install the drivers.
