Review on Ultimate USB Programming Cable for BTECH, BaoFeng, πŸ”Œ Kenwood & AnyTone Radios: BTECH PC03 FTDI Genuine USB Cable by Troy Coste

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well but was a bit fiddly.

The cable works fine. I used it to program my two BaoFeng UV-82HP several times. I'm not giving five stars for two reasons: 1. The addendum states that you don't need to download drivers in Windows 7. Not at all. Windows 7 does not have drivers for the chipset in this cable. So I had to download and install the drivers. That wasn't a problem for me, but it should have been mentioned in the description. I think it would be more correct to say that you will never need any drivers other than authentic drivers for authentic FT chips! It's a real cable though, so everything worked fine after I downloaded the drivers. When uploading or downloading the UV-82HP, it is important to know that the position of the volume control affects this process. The instructions that appear when you click the upload or download option say you may need to turn up the volume! I have two UV-82NR. When programming the first of the two, I had to turn the volume all the way up to upload or download. On the other hand, when I turn up the volume to this level, it doesn't work. It shows that the phone could not be connected. I spent at least 20 minutes trying to figure out why my second radio wouldn't connect to my computer before it struck me to lower the volume. It's not mentioned anywhere, but that's the way it should be. If you're reading this, definitely note that you might have to fiddle with the volume button to boot it up. I usually start at about 1/3 and then if it doesn't connect I crank it up a bit and try again until it starts.
