Review on Belkin 3 Outlet Protector Electronics Appliances by Peter Nobles

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Avoid the 1 amp option "Belkin BZ103050-TVL "

While the warranty on this item is certainly impressive, it's almost unrealistic when compared to the low price. I bought a 1 amp variant of this mini surge protector and had to replace it on day one and then ask for a replacement. I suspect the 1 amp version has too much extra headroom which is why it's still sold and paired with other options. For the first time: There is a button on the back of the item to rotate the pins. in a more appropriate direction (handy for setting up your outlet). The only problem was that the button appeared to be already pushed deep into the device. This led me to believe that the item was most likely returned and resold since it was purchased as 'new'. Still worked when plugged in but the button made me suspicious and I asked for a replacement. The replacement was in much more visible condition, the button worked like this: (1) press and hold the button, (2) turn the pins and the button (3) resets when it "snaps" into position. Problem? Put it in the wall and it just buzzed/buzzed. The light on it indicated it was 'protected', but the audible hum/hum of the device caused severe disbelief. Tried multiple outlets in different locations/buildings. And it certainly was persistent. This isn't the first time I've purchased an item from Belkin and probably won't be the last, but I was disappointed that I had to do it twice. Aside from the issue with the product itself, the packaging was pretty basic. I'm not expecting the fanciest of packaging, but one thing that really stands out (out of warranty): It specifically mentions that the included mini USB cable can charge pretty much any USB device, including Blackberry and Motorola RAZR -Phones." Although it's not a lie. It's 2019 and the RAZR was the highlight of 2005. Heck, the box is copyrighted 2009, and the box shows a 2nd generation iPod Nano. Given the thousands of other reviews I doubt this will draw any attention. . In any case, believe me, I don't rely on the "third magic".
