I have been running a marine aquarium for over ten years and my son decided that he wanted to start his own aquarium. After looking around we decided to go for it. So far I've been delighted with this set. It comes with everything you need, you just need to add live sand and live rock and you're good to go. The first thing we did before introducing this system was a quick leak test (which I would recommend for any new tank). ). I just filled it up and let it sit for a few hours. There are no leaks, although I ended up smearing silicone around the edges of the tank instead of one piece. Years of experience have taught me that even expensive tanks can have problems. The included protein skimmer works perfectly. When using protein skimmers, it is important to set them up correctly. It took a bit of tinkering, but after that it works great. The only complaint I would have with it is that the drip tray is on the small side. It can fill up quickly, but that goes for all nano skimmers. The included light is sufficient for most installations. This will work well for most soft coals. A nice feature of the lamp is the timer. You can set it to 3 hours, 6 hours and 12 hours. When off, it switches to dim light or moonlight. Another feature I like is the ability to change the brightness. The pump works well and has minimal turnover but I like more flow so I replaced it with a slightly larger pump. The supplied heater has an output of 100 watts. . That's too much for a tank of this size. I don't have to worry about frying my fish. Overall this is great value for money and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get into marine aquariums. Just remember that small tanks can change chemistry quickly, so it's important to keep a close eye on chemistry by checking it regularly.
